Ricrio Estate is an important ecological environment characterized by its agro-forest system where open areas meet dense, deciduous woods with oak varieties, hornbeam, ash and, more rarely, conifers.
All around the fields and along the trails there are well maintained hedges and organically cultivated fields.
At sunset you may well come across Roe deer and Fallow deer peacefully grazing.
The wildlife management of this area favours the reproduction and diffusion of many species of mammals and birds, even extending beyond the estate, forming a good quality, complex ecological system.

Wild birds in the Ricrio Estate are both numerous and varied.
Their presence depends on the seasons, and spring in particular is the best time to observe and better still hear them.
The songs of the different and often very elusive, difficult-to-see species come from all corners of the Estate to signal their presence.
The wealth of different habitats means that species typical of woods, like woodpeckers and tits, of fields and cultivated lands, like larks and the now rare Red-backed Shrike, can all live together.
With the change of seasons, migratory birds leave for Africa, whilst flocks of chaffinches, thrushes and more wood pigeons arrive from the north.
Thus, the Estate plays an important role as a natural reservoir where birds can find shelter and food, from where they can again spread to surrounding areas.
